1. I clicked “submit” and got the following message: Your document was not uploaded as it was not of the appropriate file type! We only accept DOC, PDF & TXT & RTF documents.

Solution:

The resume that you are trying to attach to your application is in a document format that is not accepted by NewHire. You need to resave your resume in one of the accepted formats. NewHire accepts resumes saved in the following formats: .doc, .pdf, .txt, and .rtf.

If you are using MS Works and your resume is saved with a .wps extension you will need to go back to MS Works and resave your document following these steps.

  • In the Works program, click File, and then click Save As.
  • In the Save as type list, click the appropriate Office program. For a Works Word Processor document, click Word 97-2002 & 6.0/95 – RTF (*.doc).
  • Attach your saved file with to your NewHire application.

2. I clicked "submit" and got a NewHire Web page with an error message stating "Sorry, no job was found with that Job Number."

Two reasons you might be get this message:

1. You have disabled cookies in your browser. Disabling cookies also disables some of the session variables that NewHire uses.
2. Your session expired while you were working. NewHire applications have a time limit of 1 hour, after that the page expires.

Solution1:

Lower your privacy settings to enable cookies (NewHire does not leave any cookies). Reset the privacy level to high, once you have completed the application.

  • Internet Explorer Browser: Open a new browser window. Click Tools, Internet Options, Privacy tab. Move the slider to set the privacy level to medium. Click Apply and then Ok.
  • Netscape: There are two ways to change your cookie preferences in Netscape.
    1. Open the Edit menu and choose Preferences. Double click Privacy & Security, which will open an expanded menu. Next to "Cookie Preferences" select the View button. Select the radio button for medium security. Click Ok.
    2. Alternatively, you can choose to allow cookies from this Website only. Open the Tools menu. Select Cookie Manager, then select Unblock cookies from this site.
  • Open your internet browser again and go back to www.new-hire.com.
  • Enter your Job ID # and fill out the application again.

If you do not have the privilege or unable to change the security level, please apply from a different computer.

Solution2:

  • Work quickly (you have 1 hour to complete and submit the application). Remember to attach a small resume file. See below for more suggestions.
  • If the problem persists, contact us at: problems_submitting@new-hire.com. Please copy the error message into the email. Please include your phone number so that we can advise you how to proceed.

3. I clicked the "submit button" and got the message, "The Page cannot be found."

You have one hour to complete the questionnaire and submit your information. Additionally, the system sets a time limit to upload and add your information to the database. If you exceed these time limits, your application will not be accepted.

Are you attaching a large PDF file?

Solutions:

  • Attach a smaller resume to your application.
  • Try attaching a MS Word resume.
  • If you are using a dial-up connection, try applying from a computer that has a broadband connection, like DSL or a cable modem.
  • Fill out the application and don't attach a resume. Email the resume to info@new-hire.com. Include the Job ID number in the subject line! Also include your full name and contact information in the email.

Did it take you more than an hour to complete the application? Were you interrupted? Did you leave your computer and then come back? Did you open and work on other software or files?

Solutions:

  • Click the back button, your answers may still be in the form. Then re-submit. If the error persists then…
  • Start again. Go to www.new-hire.com, enter your job ID number, fill out the application in less than an hour. (You may choose to compose your answers in your word processor and paste them into the form.)

4. I clicked the submit button and got a "page cannot be found" message that includes the http error message number in the 500's.

This means that your internet connection was dropped during your session.

Solution:

  • Leave your browser open. Reconnect to your internet provider. Go back to your application form and then click submit.

5. I clicked the submit button and got a "page cannot be found" error message that includes an http error message number in the 400's.

Error messages in the 400's indicate that the New-Hire.com web server is temporarily down.
