Located in Westlake, Ohio the Technical Service Manager will be an important member of the global service team at Struers. We are looking for a Technical Service Manager who will actively contribute to developing our business and has previously demonstrated an understanding of best-practices in technical service. The right candidate will have experience managing Field Technicians at remote locations.

Struers has affiliates in 22 countries and sells materials testing equipment and consumables to manufacturers of automotive, aerospace, electronics, materials manufacturing and a wide variety of other industries which must measure and control the quality of the solid materials used in production.
Our customers rely on our products for Materialographic Sample Preparation, Image Analysis & Archiving, Hardness Testing and Microscopy.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage the technical service department with 12 direct reports including both in-house and field service personnel
Define and execute a business plan to achieve strategic corporate objectives and KPI’s including targets for growth, profitability, efficiency and customer satisfaction
Ensure that procedures are in place to support our objectives and assure first-class customer response and departmental efficiency
Act as a liaison between client and organization when required for service related issues
Develop and implement continuous service training while creating a knowledge sharing culture for service personnel
Continuous focus on how to develop the business to meet customer requirements
Compile and analyze product service data to provide feedback to the manufacturing sight, problem resolution, equipment improvement and future product development
Perform routine inventory analysis
Actively contribute in the development of best practices within the Struers Global Service organization
Participate in the implementation of a global ERP service solution
Manage applicable equipment standards, i.e. UL, CSA, etc.
Implement and manage calibration of testing equipment (ISO 17025)
Previous service supervisory experience required
Bachelors degree preferred; minimum acceptable requirement includes an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
Excellent leadership skills creating a positive and dedicated environment within the Service organization (locally and globally)

Global-focused team player with the ability to contribute and interact with colleagues all over the world
Structured and analytical approach to tasks and problem solving with adequate detail orientation
Must be organized with the ability to focus on priority projects and tasks
Must have technical knowledge of electronics, pneumatics and hydraulics, as well as a strong mechanical aptitude
Ability for overnight travel, in geographical territory as well as overseas
Excellent communication skills
Excellent IT skills
Previous hands-on field service engineer experience preferred
Experience with ERP or CRM service solutions systems preferred
Experience with implementation of ISO/ASTM standards preferred
