VENTOWER Industries (www.ventower.com) is seeking an Industrial Engineer to fill a temporary (3-6 month) assignment.  We prefer to hire Michigan state residents with special consideration to veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces.  Join our collaborative team environment; bring your strong work ethic and dedication to safety and efficiency to help us meet production and delivery goals.
 
VENTOWER is a full service fabricator and supplier of utility scale, wind turbine towers.  Our brand new, state of the art facility is equipped with the most technologically advanced fabrication and industrial coating equipment.  We continue to ramp up from initial production and will soon fully staff a second shift.  When we reach full capacity we will run 3 shifts with about 200 employees and deliver several hundred tower sections per year.  As we grow, there will be opportunities for advancement through demonstrated leadership and training.

As a member of the Engineering team, the successful candidate will perform a wide range of tasks.  The incumbent will collaborate with operations personnel to integrate best practices into all activities and decision-making processes at our Monroe, MI facility.
  The position will be instrumental in supporting manufacturing functions and will assist in the creation and/or improvement of existing coating and assembly procedures and practices.  The position may provide additional support as necessary.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Create standardized work instructions and train team members in their use.
  • Provide manufacturing support for workplace organization, production routers and bills of material.
  • Make recommendations to optimize the use of floor space, materials, personnel and equipment.
  • Analyze existing operations and propose cost justified improvements and/or equipment relocation.
  • Review job prints (internal parts assembly, symbols, etc.) with team members as necessary.
  • Recommend various product and process improvements, tracking all changes as appropriate.
  • Assist team members with equipment trouble-shooting, repeatability, reliability or quality issues.
  • Work with team members to identify opportunities for improvement and then implement them.
  • Lead coatings and assembly program audit and review.
  • Assist in training/certifying/qualifying painters and assembly operators.
  • Conduct training needs assessment, making recommendations for team members as appropriate.
  • Support safety committee initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement activities.
  • Other projects as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
  • **The incumbent for this position may be required to work the afternoon shift for one or more weeks per month, based on the needs of the business.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in industrial engineering or related discipline.
  • Able to utilize work measurement/work standards and describe them in simple terms.
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA and MIOSHA regulations and requirements.
  • Must be able to interact with all levels of the organization utilizing effective team-building skills.
  • Outstanding computer skills (i.e. MicroSoft Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).
  • Able to wear standard PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, respirator, etc.).
  • Highly organized, self-starter capable of accomplishing the mission with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Familiarity with industrial coatings and/or manual assembly processes.
  • 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment as an industrial engineer.
  • Capable of designing workstations around basic ergonomic principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to author work instructions and conduct related training.
